Lords of the Jungle (DVD) 2-Disc Set!

Exhausted, sopping wet, but still gorgeous, a group of survivors washes up on the shore of a remote tropical island. They have no idea where they are or how to escape, but with a little pluck and lots of fuck they manage to eke out an existence. The similarities between "Lost" ( http://Lost.com ) and "Lords of the Jungle" ( http://LordsOfTheJungle.com ) are immediately apparent in this stunningly rendered epic, although there are no annoyingly protracted flashbacks or unexplained weirdnesses like smoke monsters and rampaging polar bears (there are, however, muscle bears aplenty).

Shot in a remote part of Hawaii, like the TV show, it provides even fewer signs of civilization for its castaways. In the outdoor settings, the lush jungle serves as almost another character, providing a background as wild and untamed as the sex itself. The uncannily intuitive direction by Chris Ward and Ben Leon smoothes the way for the action (an astounding 10 scenes in all) and gives the studs enough leeway to have a great time together while never feeling forced or rushed. In terms of pacing, this is one of the most adeptly crafted thrillers in a long time; that's only one of its strengths. Another is that it completely eschews formulaic patterns, surprising at every turn; no two scenes are exactly alike from start to finish, which is my idea of pretty much the perfect gay porn experience.

Also perfect: the men. I think I could forget about the bugs, the sleeping on the beach, and the even the lack of TiVo for a few days alone with stallion Jake Deckard. Jake is an alpha male of the pack (also unlike "Lost," there are no women, thank goodness), but he's hardly alone in that regard. Blake Nolan, Matt Cole, Collin O'Neal and Marc LaSalle also fit that particular bill, as does Rambo, a tattooed love stud who fucks the hell out of Mario Cruz' bubble-butt.

An exploratory foray to the island's interior turns up not only a tunnel cave, but also a hot encounter between Jake and Marc.
